Saving lives is why we all volunteer. A First Responder is trained as a minimum in basic life support and the use of a defibrillator attending potentially life-threatening emergencies. First Responders are a life saving part of the Scottish Ambulance Service where we provide support before the Ambulance arrives.
As part of our work we want to educate others to provide life-saving help if needed in an emergency. We run Heartstart training classes regularly, these classes are free and we encourage you to come along. It's alway best to be prepared for that "just in case" moment.
We all donate our time to provide help to those who need it most. We aren't paid and do it for the good of our community. Our vehicles and equipment however, aren't free. We are funded purely by generous ndonations and our fundraising activities, the Scottish Ambulance service do not provide us with any funding. Any support you're able to give us is greatly appreciated to keep us going.
